Document list for the PhD Programme

1. Application form (sample);

2. Master Degree diploma together with its copy. All who obtained the Master Degree abroad including CIS citizens must attach a copy of Certificate issued by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education that this document is equivalent to the Master Degree diploma inside Russia (the Equivalence Certificate).

3. Passport or any other identity document, together with its copy;

4. A questionnaire (personal list) (sample);

5. one 3x4 cm photo;

6. Certificate No. 6 on candidate exams pass (if they have passed): All who has passed the candidate exams abroad, must attach a corresponding letter from the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

7. List of all publications and inventions (form No. 3.3) (at will);

8. A copy of the labour book approved by the previous job (at will);

9. Military ID (if applicable);

10. A letter that you agree for the personal data processing (sample);

11. A letter that you agree for the enrollment (sample).

Entrance rules

The enrollment is competition-based where any person with the higher education (diploma specialist, master) can take part. The positions are held annually according to the competition committee of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MON RF). Postgraduate students are trained through full-time training. The duration of full-time study is 4 years. The general training of full-time graduate students in accordance with the Federal State Educational Standard (FSES) during the year is 60 credit units (or 2160 academic hours per year). Subject to availability and acceleration of study, the graduate student's annual workload may be up to 75 credits per year (or 2,700 academic hours). Then the duration of graduate student training can be reduced to 3 years and 2.5 months. The appointment of a postgraduate student in accelerated graphic studies can be established during the 2nd year of study, subject to the availability of candidate minimum examination data in philosophy and history, as well as a foreign language. The transfer of a graduate student to an accelerated training schedule occurs by agreement with him, the leading supervisor and in accordance with judicial proceedings as part of the annual certification. Graduate students studying in full-time graduate school have the right to a deferment from conscription, receive a stipend in the established state, and comply with the conditions of service and dormitory for non-residents.

Citizens of foreign states, including citizens of CIS member states, are admitted to graduate school on the basis of international treaties and intergovernmental agreements of the Russian Federation, as well as under agreements of scientific institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which provide for payment of the cost of training by legal entities and individuals.

The provision of a hostel is discussed individually after admission to graduate school.

Structure of the entrance exam in a foreign language to graduate schools of the institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences

1. Written translation of the original text in a broad specialty of the applicant in a volume of 2000 printed characters from a foreign language into Russian in 60 minutes. You are allowed to use a dictionary.

2. Reading aloud and oral translation of the original text in a wide specialty of the applicant in a volume of 1000 - 1200 printed characters from a foreign language into Russian. You are allowed to use a dictionary. Preparation time: 10-15 minutes.

3. Conversation in a foreign language on topics related to the biography and specialty of the applicant.

Applicants to graduate school must undergo an interview with the Institute’s commission and the proposed supervisor. The results of the interview are assessed in the same way as the entrance exams and are taken into account when calculating the entrance exam points.
